Open Pointing:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is open to anyone including professional handlers. The dog must hold point for three seconds.

Amateur Pointing:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is for amateur handlers only. The dog must hold a point for three seconds.

Open Flushing:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is open to anyone including professional handlers.

Amateur Flushing:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is for amateur handlers only. 

Doubles:  Two hunters, two dogs, one 15 minute run, six chukars and ten shells per run. A hunter may enter up to six times per event as long as his or her team member changes every time.

Amateur Women's:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars, and eight shells per run. This division is for the amateur women handlers only. 

Open Women’s: One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is open to professional women handers.

Youth:  One hunter under 18 years old and a parent or guardian, one dog, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. All youth will compete against each other at each event and a parent or guardian MUST accompany the youth in each run until they turn 18 years of age. At 18 years of age they are no longer allowed to compete in the youth division.

Puppy:  One hunter, one puppy, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run. This division is for dogs up to 18 months of age. You must establish whether the puppy will point or flush at time of entry. All pointing and flushing puppies will compete against each other. There will be NO national recognition for this division but points can be transferred to either the amateur or open divisions accordingly.

Senior Handler:  One hunter, one dog, one 15 minute run, 4 chukars and eight shells per run.  This division is only for (male or female) hunters over 62 years of age and each participant must show proof of age. Participation in this division does not disqualify a hunter and his/her dog from participating in any other division for which he or she is qualified.  Rule #11 (professionals) will apply.  The senior division will include both flushers and pointers with points awarded accordingly.

Senior Dog Division: One hunter, one dog 10+ years in age, one 15 minute run, four chukars and eight shells per run in a smaller field than other divisions where possible. 

The host club will designate the type of bird to be used at qualifying events. The BOD will designate the type of bird to be used at the Nationals.



Paybacks are optional at the host clubs discretion


In the Open Divisions the winner of the division will receive 50% of the cash pot and a 1st place certificate, the 2nd place winner will receive 30% of the cash pot and a certificate, the 3rd place winner will receive 20% of the cash pot and a certificate.

In the Amateur Divisions the top three placing winner of the division will receive a certificate.

In the Puppy Division the top three placing winner of the division will receive a certificate.

In the Youth Division the top three placing winner of the division will receive a certificate.

In the Women's Division the top three placing winner of the division will receive a certificate.

In the Doubles Division the winner of the division will receive 50% of the cash pot and a 1st place certificate, the 2nd place winner will receive 30% of the cash pot and a certificate and the 3rd place winner will receive 20% of the cash pot and a certificate.

Clubs will provide any prizes at their discretion. Calcuttas will be allowed at sanctioned events if legal in the state in which it is held. Ten percent must be paid to handler. Optional pots are allowed.

All hunters, judges, scorekeepers, bird planters and other volunteers must sign a liability waiver and promotional release prior to working any NAGDA event.
